Perfect Chicago Bicycle Tour for Families

The Chicago Tike Hike Kids Edition Bicycle Tour was created with your kids in mind...perfect for families with kids ages 10 and under. A wide array of fun things await your family such as a hidden garden, petting the animals at Lincoln Park Zoo, tossing coins at the wishing fountain, rubbing the foot of a GIANT Abe Lincoln, and biking Chicago's magnificent lakefront trail. We'll throw in Chicago history and trivia with fun and prizes to boot.

And don't worry, we'll even keep you and the older kids entertained as well. The daily departure time is when crowds are small and safety is at a premium.

48 HOURS MINIMUM ADVANCE BOOKING REQUIRED. Tour does not include hotel pickup. Prices include bike rental. Student rate requires presentation of a valid Student ID on the day of the tour. Child rate is for ages 11 and under. Please order online or call us toll-free at 888-881-3284.

There is a $5.95 USD processing fee per order. This is a flat fee regardless of the number of tickets or tours purchased on an order.
There is a service charge per ticket. This charge will be reflected on your summary before you checkout. The total shown includes any and all taxes, fuel surcharges, and service fees. There are no additional charges, unless otherwise specified.

Cancellation Policy:

There are no refunds. All sales are final.

Change Fee Policy: If changes are allowed on a tour or activity, a $20.00 per reservation change fee will be applied for any change to a reservation. Please note that some tours and activities do not allow any changes. Date changes can be made only if we can confirm availability on the new date. While we cannot guarantee any changes can be made, all change requests must be submitted a minimum of 24 hours prior to the tour departure and must be handled on an individual basis through our Reservations Center.

A word of advice for parents trying to juggle small children with older siblings: Don't call it a "Tike Hike" to the older kids. Instead call it an "Adventure Series" or something like that to make it an easier sell to that age group.

How long is the tour?
This tour is at a relaxed pace, covering 4.5 mi in 2 hours, including a number of stops along the way.

Do I need a bike?
No, you will be provided a cool Schwinn Beach Cruiser, along with helmet if you want one. Each bike has its own name and comes equipped with a basket if needed.

Is it strenuous?
This is easy riding with many stops for activities and your guide to entertain with stories of Chicago.

What if it rains?
If it happens to rain during the tour, you'll be provided raingear. Tours are only cancelled if it is pouring rain at the tour start time.

What can I expect?
Expect to have fun! Chicago has been given the title of "best bicycling city in North America" by Bicycle Magazine. You'll have the chance to learn about Chicago's fascinating history while meeting other fun travelers.

I'm bringing an infant/very young child. Should I purchase them a ticket?
Don't worry, children 3 and under are not charged a full youth price. Your small child will, however, be charged a ticket price which goes toward reserving their special equipment. You will be asked to specify on your Order Form how many infants/young children will be attending and to note your choice of special equipment (child seat, trailers, tag-a-long).

Should I tip the guide on the bike tour?
If you enjoyed yourself more then you anticipated, then tip -- the guide will be happy to be recognized in this manner.
