What is a Segway? -- The Segway Personal Transporter (PT) is a one of a kind self balancing device designed to go anywhere people go. Easy to use and operate. Segway PT's operate along pedestrian pathways and walkways and do not require you to possess a license to ride one. Segway PTs are not allowed on streets or highways as they do not meet the minimum standard requirements of street or highway regulations. They are safe and fun devices. Riding a Segway PT is the best way to get around town and see sites of interest.
How safe is it to ride a Segway? -- Segways are very safe to ride because of the high-technology that they have. Your thorough training, which you receive from experienced and certified tour guides, is enough to make you experts too and that makes you feel comfortable and knowledgeable about this unique device. Segways are equipped with tail lights and helmets are provided. Tour routes are smooth and clear providing you with a seamless glide.
What should I bring with me? -- YOU MUST PRESENT A VALID I.D. AND CREDIT CARD PRIOR TO TAKING THE TOUR. You should bring a camera and a small bottle of water. Other suggestions are sunscreen and a lightweight pair of sunglasses. During the cooler seasons it's important to wear and an extra layer of clothing and consider bringing gloves and a scarf as Chicago is a Windy City. If it looks like rain, plastic ponchos are available.
Can children ride? -- Riding a Segway is safe, even for children. However, it is required that all riders be at least 13 years of age. All riders under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Are there any weight restrictions? -- In order to assure a riders' safety, there is a minimum weight requirement of 100 pounds. The maximum recommended weight limit as specified by the manufacturer is 240 pounds. In order to ride, your weight should fall somewhere within this range.
